text and reference books of high standard and quality at affordable prices.
Under the imprint of "Eastern Economy Editions", Prentice-Hall of India publishes
virtually in all disciplines—ranging from science and engineering, computer and
information technology to management and humanities and social sciences.
The website project involved conceptualization and creation of book database and
providing an E-commerce solution for "Prentice Hall of India"

Approach
During manual processing days PHI use to represent their books
data in simple text format with no pattern and order. So when they decided
to put their books database online, the challenge was to come up with
a way to format the books data, so that it could be populated into
database easily. For this purpose the whole books database was tagged based upon
various fields of book's information and a parser was developed by development
team to parse and populate that data into database. Also with the kind of

requirements PHI had, a very complex database is required for keeping their data.

* A book can be present in one or more subcategories under a category
* Books are to be categorized by publishers, sequences, authors etc.
